Questions & Answers
What process improvements do you propose for ensuring our streets and roadways are well maintained?
In 2021, the Plumsted Township Committee commissioned a comprehensive analysis of every road in the township, creating a five-year capital improvement plan. Since then, the township has used this priority ranking system to repair roads and storm drains, maximizing budget funds, grants, and bonding.
Your safety is important to us; so is balancing needs with resources as we manage the road repair process. While we appreciate others’ promises to annually audit every road in the township, the cost for doing so has not been taken into consideration.
We see progress being made on repairs, both temporary and permanent, yet we know we can help the township do better. We support the township’s review of new options for basic road maintenance and pothole repair, with the goal of completing more work more quickly.
An effective reporting mechanism already exists in the form of a “Report an Issue” button at the top of the plumsted.org homepage, but more residents need to be made aware of it. Information is sent directly to the operations hub, the Municipal Clerk’s office. Requests are logged and routed directly to the responsible department. If elected, we will initiate a bi-weekly review of all requests to track progress and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. Easy and effective at no additional cost to you.
