our Priorities
While we each have priorities that we’re passionate about, we think you’ll find they complement one another and demonstrate what a compatible team we make as candidates and as committeemen. We firmly believe in committee members doing their research, speaking with residents, and voting their conscience in the best interest of the community.
Communication
Increasing the level of communication between our township and its residents is vital to creating an engaged, vibrant community. I’m a communicator who listens and links people with resources and solutions. I’m committed to providing residents with the information they need through face-to-face conversations, a robust township website, email, and social media interactions.
Safety
Safety takes many forms––from keeping a watchful eye on our neighborhoods to supporting local first responders, and ensuring roadways and drinking water are safe. I believe in proactive leadership. Understanding the boots-on-the-ground needs of our first responders as they serve the community is important. And encouraging clear, prompt communication helps keep families safe.
Preservation
I’m a champion of land preservation and value the history and character of our community. I also understand some change is inevitable and can be beneficial. I believe we can successfully navigate change with thoughtful decision making. If re-elected, I will launch the Plumsted Preservation Project to ensure every farmer and open land owner understands their preservation options.
Integrity
My father was my model of integrity. This virtue is non-negotiable. In his words, “It’s about making honorable choices when no one is watching.” I’m committed to continuing to make honorable choices reflecting the best interests of our residents.
Fiscal Responsibility
I believe in a transparent budgeting process that eliminates frivolous spending. This involves accountability at all levels, a review of the proposed budget by committee members with the township CFO before it is introduced, and the CFO’s certification of available funds before spending approval. I want to see shared services maximized and taxpayer dollars spent to deliver services to all Plumsted residents, not small interest groups or outside entities.
Smart Planning
I believe in strategic growth. It will keep taxes in check, so our residents can remain in the township after retirement, and their children can raise their own families where they grew up. This involves smart planning and development that doesn’t compromise the rural charm of our community. We must create economic incentives that attract businesses to Main Street and take a careful, thoughtful approach to state-mandated affordable housing obligations.
Government Transparency
I believe in accessibility, open dialogue, inclusionary idea-sharing, and public forums. Keeping our residents informed is essential. I plan to be a champion of open public forums because they offer opportunities for vital resident participation and feedback, which helps the committee facilitate positive change. I’m a proponent of resident collaboration and taking the temperature on important matters that impact us all as a means of making informed decisions.
Professionalism.
I believe in ethical, respectful, kind leadership. It’s just that simple.
