Questions & Answers

I’ve heard that Plumsted Township is reassessing properties and that may impact my property taxes. What can I expect?

Plumsted Township has been ordered by the Ocean County Board of Taxation to complete a reassessment of all properties in the township for the 2026 tax cycle. It’s been 13 years since the last assessment. The process allows for a reset of property values to reflect a more current housing market. The typical outcome of assessments? ⅓ will increase, ⅓ will decrease, and ⅓ will remain the same. While the apportionment of property taxes may change, the township budget, and tax revenue required to meet that budget, does not change due to the reassessment.

If you own property in the township, you have been mailed a letter informing you of the complete process for home inspection, your opportunity to review your assessment, and the appeal process. Two information sessions have been held with additional information available at
www.plumsted.org or by contacting the township Tax Assessor’s office.

As long-time property owners ourselves, we understand your concerns. If elected, we will take steps to ensure residents who want to appeal will have their opportunity to be heard through a clear and reasonable process.
