Electricity rates are at an all-time high, and another JCP&L increase is expected in June. Would do you see as solutions for residents?
Plumsted Township families are paying more each month for electricity than ever before, while sections of our township regularly experience outages. The township is currently leveraging Committeeman Tom Potter’s expertise as a retired JCP&L supervisor to address the reliability of services, and we’re seeing progress in the communication of our concerns.
The Bowen-Garrigana campaign supports Assemblyman Alex Sauickie’s five-part plan to reduce utility bills by introducing fundamental reforms to the state’s energy policies. Bill A4788 would eliminate sales tax on utility bills. The second bill, A5652, would repeal increased rates charged to customers who exceed certain monthly usage thresholds. Bill A5114 would repeal the energy conservation penalty that allows utility companies to increase rates if their projected revenue doesn’t meet expectations. Another measure, bill A5650, would require New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to assist consumers in finding the best available energy prices through a state website dedicated to third-party suppliers. And Assemblyman Sauickie’s final bill, A5058, mandates the BPU to fully review the power line network to provide consumers more reliable service at the best value.
We feel the monthly crunch too, and we will do all we can to work locally in support of Assemblyman Sauickie’s efforts to bring relief to our community.
